Back rail-sea intermodal transportation solution from China to Uk & Norway

New rail service via Duisburg - an intermodal solution from China to the UK/Nordic region

At the beginning of September, a dozen of containers with goods arrived Oslo Port from China. This marked the successful completion of our first trial run, and the official launch of “China – UK/Nordic region” rail-sea intermodal transport solution. This innovative transport solution provides cargo transportation from Suzhou Station to Duisburg on CR Express. We then transport the goods to Rotterdam/Moerdijk port, where we then load onto our shortsea vessels to the UK, Norway, and Sweden.

Suzhou is an important industrial city in China, and an important intersection of the "Belt and Road" as well as the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The new land-ocean solution creates a connection between the Yangtze River Delta area with the UK and Nordic countries and helps to solve transport needs from intensive manufacturing at the Yangtze River Delta area.

Advantages of the new rail-ocean intermodal mode:

  • greatly improved reliability

  • remain as an economical mode as "all sea" transportation

  • low carbon emission, and environment friendly

  • predictability - avoids uncertainties caused by  congestion of some major ports in China and Europe.

Rail freight - the alternative

The international freight market has faced huge challenges due to the COVID pandemic since last year. ColliCare integrated comprehensive logistics resources to keep the supply chain smooth. We have developed direct rail services from China to Norway, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, and expect to introduce this new rail-sea intermodal transportation solution into our global network.
